Online Training: The Key to Your Next Job

If you’ve recently lost your job, this is the time to plan, not panic. The job seeker who maintains her composure and strategizes her next move will find herself working much sooner than her desperate counterparts. Taking advantage of online learning can be an integral part of that plan.

Today’s online classes offer quality, convenience, and affordability. One of the best values can be found in MBA distance learning programs. The recently unemployed are no longer required to place their job search on hold to attend university-based MBA courses. The Internet allows students to participate in immersive, accelerated online learning opportunities with content similar to traditional MBA coursework.

There’s also a secondary benefit to pursuing business education online. The course offerings in quality online MBA programs allow the student to pick and choose the training he needs to make himself marketable to prospective employers. This approach to advanced learning is far more economical for someone who has lost her job than enrolling in a conventional MBA program.

The goal, after all, is to return to work quickly, and for the best possible salary. Obtaining additional business education in “quick bites” makes you more attractive to prospective employers, without an unreasonable investment of time.

Is pursuing an MBA online the right option for you? Consider your alternatives; you can continue to apply for positions with the same qualifications used to gain your last job, or you can hone your skills with intensive MBA courses that will give you the advantage over competition.

Once you’ve made the decision to increase your edge with additional business education, your next step is to find the right program. If you need to return to work quickly, it makes sense to find courses that can be completed in the least amount of time. Speed of completion, though, won’t matter if you don’t gain valuable knowledge.

The secret, then, is to find online educational sites offering proven quality, affordable tuition and accelerated course schedules. Look for verifiable references. Compare their course content to what’s needed in the business world. If you aren’t sure what’s marketable, make a list of desired training or experience from job postings you’d like to fill.

With this list in hand, create a schedule of MBA courses that will make you indispensable. Learn what your options are for financing the tuition, if necessary. Set a deadline for completing the most necessary studies. Then get started with your online MBA training.

The sooner you gain more business knowledge, the sooner you’ll move to the front of the applicant line. Armed with valuable advanced business training, you’ll suddenly be superior to the rest of the anxious job seekers. Doesn’t that sound like the position you’d rather be in?

Toilet Paper Entrepreneur Imparts Tidbits of Wisdom

If you own your own small business, you should definitely read Mike Michalowicz's Toilet Paper Entrepreneur Blog. His latest entry, "163 Ways to Become an Entrepreneur," imparts great tidbits of wisdom from people who walk the walk. MBA-At-A-Glance instructor Professor Sanjay Anand offered the following tip for the piece:

"How To Become An Entrepreneur: To be an entrepreneur you must dream; but here’s the thing … You don’t have to dream big; you have to dream executable. In other words execute on your dreams; don’t just leave them as dreams. And sometimes, big dreams are overwhelming and subject to analysis-paralysis. So go for the small, manageable, execution-oriented dreams."

Tip of the hat to Mike!

The concept is simple. This Saturday, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time, turn out the lights.

Earth Hour was launched in Australia in 2007, and gained a tremendous amount of momentum last year. Even Google "went dark" for Earth Hour, changing the background of their home page from white to black. The goal this year is to reach 1 billion people in 1,000 cities around the world.

It's easy to sign up as a supporter. Visit the Earth Hour website to show your support of Earth Hour.

Here's a three-minute video that explains the history and purpose of Earth Hour:

Five Ways Online MBA Training Can Boost Your Business

Are you a small business owner who's not sure your company will survive? There's something you can do without burdening your budget that can put your profits back on track. What's this magic wand for small business? It's online MBA training.

Before protesting that you're too busy, too broke, or too old to go back to school, let's look instead at the five ways online business education helps small business owners succeed.

  1. Creates a backdrop for your business experience: Why not showcase what you've learned running your business with credentials gained through MBA distance learning? Find a program with accelerated courses and enhance your professional image in the least amount of time. Through online courses taken right at your desk, learn what top business experts recommend without setting foot on campus.
  2. Makes your business more attractive to investors: With infusions of cash dwindling, it's time to show yourself in the best possible light to potential investors. Learn to polish your presentation and respond well to tough questions with online MBA classes. Put yourself in the place of investors; wouldn't you choose to invest in the business owner who's taken the time to invest in herself?
  3. Teaches you better business strategy: You know your market, you know what you have to offer, but you may not know the best strategy for putting the two together. Online classes in strategic business planning will help you fine-tune your approach to doing business.
  4. Fills in the gaps in your business knowledge: You're probably an expert when it comes to your product or service, but may feel less than confident about other areas of your business. Gain a well-rounded perspective by working toward your MBA online.
  5. Helps you position your business for survival: Business owners need every strategy, proven business practice, and cutting-edge idea they can find to keep a business afloat in a tough economy. Online MBA programs allow you to find out what works without spending time away from the office.

Education programs that allow you to learn more about running a business without ever leaving your office are the ultimate in consumer-centered education. If you've decided to investigate this opportunity further, here are three things to look for in a distance learning program:

  • Intensive, accelerated learning opportunities - the greatest amount of practical information for business owners in the least amount of time.
  • Curriculum accessible 24/7 - at least part of what's offered should be recorded and stored online for you to access whenever you need.
  • Live training experiences - with current technology, you can actually "attend" classes live and interact with instructors and other students. A quality online MBA program will include this important feature.

Running a small business, especially in today's economy, is more than a full-time job. To gain the critical information you need to build your best strategy, take advantage of MBA distance learning. It's the best investment you can make to keep your company on solid ground.
