Certified Management Professional

The Certified Management Professional (CMP) certification recognizes knowledge in nine key areas:

1. Accounting (Financial and Managerial)
2. Finance (Corporate Finance and Investment Management)
3. Economics (Micro and Macro)
4. Marketing
5. Strategic Planning
6. Operations
7. Statistics
8. Human Resources
9. Other (Ethics, Business Law, Entrepreneurship)

The CMP certification is designed for those who have worked in business management for at least two years, or who have studied business management and have a thorough understanding of the theories and principles that support the core areas outlined above.

There are two paths to earning a CMP certification:

• Achieving a score of 70% or better on a 100-question, two-hour exam taken at your convenience (more information below) OR
• Approval through CMP's grandfathering provision, which recognizes education and experience in the field

About the Certification Exam

Getting certified is as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Register for the CMP exam. The fee for each exam is $97, and includes a study guide, exam, and a one-year membership in CMP.
2. Take a two-hour proctored exam with 100 multiple choice questions at one of the many proctored testing centers worldwide.
3. Score at least 70%, with one positive point for correct answers, and no negative points for skipped questions or incorrect answers.

Prerequisite:

In order to qualify for the CMP exam, you must have:

• An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university OR
• An associate's or half-bachelor degree plus one year of work experience

After passing the exam, you will receive your certificate in the mail within two weeks. You may then use the CMP credential on your resume, business cards, and personal websites for as long as your certification is active. We'll provide you with a CMP logo for your personal use.

Maintaining Your Certification

Keeping your certification active is easy; you simply must renew your membership in CMP on or before your anniversary date.
